Pushing Daisies

I've been thinking a lot about the term "counter intuitive" and what exactly it means when:
a. People say it, and
b. They know what they are talking about.

So many times people just throw around these terms to sound like they now what is going on, and half the time if you really listen they make exactly zero sense and are really saying nothing. I do like the idea of the world creating scenarios that what we think is true, or would assume is true is the exact opposite of reality. Keeps us on our toes. But I do hate hearing that term. It's like when people used to constantly say "At the end of the day, what really matters is..." that was much worse.

Today my back was feeling 100% and we went on a really long bike ride. Instead of sun worship, which I found made the sun go into hiding for a week in embarrassment, I focused in on some form of daisy weed. I have found absolutely nothing "counter intuitive" about my day so far. Except possibly others on the trail might have found my bike riding attire choice purposefully "counter intuitive"... a dress and cut off jeans with red Dolce Vita flats (in honor of the fact that I met the founder of Dolce Vita last night!!!). Everyone else on the trail was wearing serious bike riding GEAR. One guy that passed me was in some sort of spandex suit that was emblazoned with the starbucks label all over it, with a closer look I realized his bike was starbucks branded as well! I assume he is some sort of professional that is sponsored by starbucks, but it was intense. I felt like I was racing in the tour de france!!! I'm sure my dirt bike raised more eyebrows than his starbucks bike though...

As big as your FACE

I accidently went out and had several drinks on Tuesday night, thus sabotaging my entire day wednesday, and any semblance I have had to healthy living lately. I love my life. Below is my documentation of my surroundings that night. As usual, no people. If you look close there is a bud or bud light ad in each shot... it's a "where's waldo" game!

This shot is a part of my journey home. I thought an empty jewelry window was hilarious. The triptych even funnier and i took at least 6 shots of the escalator before I got this clear one. Don't even ask why I was in the Pacific Center. It has absolutely nothing to do with cheeseburgers.

the vacation photos I've been waiting for

We finally developed our photos from our lomo...there appears to be a new light leak which adds a ghostly element to these images. If you haven't noticed yet, I prefer images without people in them. I don't know why. I added an image of me swinging from a vine to prove to naysayers that I DID in fact swing from a vine, and that it WAS in fact dangerous. I'm totally tough.

Here comes the sun

Saturday was the first really beautiful and HOT day I've had in Seattle. Rob and I celebrated by going on a 10 mile bike ride along an amazing trail on the water. The quality of light is very different in the Northwest than in the Midwest. It shimmers more and has a clarity that I feel doesn't happen in Kansas. Maybe it's the lack of dust in the air. Or maybe it's just been so LONG since I've seen the sun that I am glorifying it... Either way, here is my homage to the sun. Dear Sun, please stay awhile.

mushroom hunt

My friends Tyra and Michael live in a wonderland that they have designed and built with their own hands. Michael is an amazing natural builder, ceramicist, gardener, artist...you name it.  Check out a few images of their home that i took on my last trip. I can't wait to see what it looks like in June when everything is fully green. The last few photos are of the morels that Michael found by the river! He and Tyra were so excited they could barely stand it!
